Guided tour of the Old Town of Rethymno

On the way to Rethymno, there is going to be a stop at Aptera an ancient city, now an archaeological site in western Crete, a kilometre inland from the southern shore of Souda Bay, about 13 km east of Chania in the municipality of Akrotiri. Afterwards, the excursion is followed by the city of Rethymno, which is the capital of the Rethymno regional unit on the island of Crete. Its Old Town is one of the most well-preserved Venetian districts of Crete and has been declared a protected historical monument and a traditional settlement. Its buildings date back to the 16th century and are excellent examples of traditional architecture. In the Fortezza Venetian fortress one can distinguish between European and Mauritanian influences. Take a pleasant day stroll to the picturesque Venetian Harbor. Relax in a tavern, enjoying Cretan meze, such as a fresh slice of bread with local olive oil. Rest in a local cafe in the old town or enjoy the view next to the sea.

The excursion will be escorted by a certified tour guide.

Departure time (from Minoa Palace Hotel) - 8:30 am

Return time (to Minoa Palace Hotel) - 16:30 pm approximately

Please note: The entrance fees into the archeological places are covered by the participants.
